Lanai or Vegas?

Our recent email posting has brought up some interesting points. Donald and Joe really had some good inputs regarding why our reunion should be at Vegas. All others also had some really good argument on why it should be on Lanai. Does it matter? May be it does, and it depends who is driving their point across. As for me, it does not matter which way it goes. However, before we go on a rampage on location --- let's think about the purpose of this reunion.

This is just my thoughts and opinions about what is going on. When the email frenzy started, we all got really excited to hear from people we have not seen since graduation. Even today with the recent addition of Richard Agaran, the excitement is still there. As we move forward in making our 30th class reunion a reality, here are some points to think about. In 1989, a small group of us got together on Oahu and had a "small kine" class reunion. Of course, planning and other things made it impossible for others to attend. Since then, a number of people tried to put something together for our 15th and 20th. Obviously, nothing happened. Today, it looks more and more a dream come true that we actually are going to have a reunion. So, with that in mind... Now the question -- Who can attend? How many of us are actually planning on attending? We talked about Vegas and Lanai, but I feel since this would be our first reunion together (not counting 1989), we should have maximum participation. That's what I meant when I sent out the email last night. We should pull together and make this the best ever. You all gotta admit, we're not the young whippersnapper we used to be. Also, I hope God blesses all of us with good health so we can continue to see each other in future reunions.

Let's talk about cost? We can argue all day the difference between Vegas and Lanai. Let me start with Lanai. I mentioned about discounted rate that the class of 1980 got when they had their reunion. We also could share Bed and Breakfast among classmates -- even Patrick Tracy old house is being used as vacation rental. See, there are ways to cut cost. I think Lanai would be a great first start because we all could reminisce the good 'ole days. We could even call Claude to make a 70's dance for us. As for Vegas, LACA goes there every year. Vegas does serve some excitement among gamblers and a terrific party atmosphere. Joe knows me, I'm the party type of guy;)

Anyway, I just wanted to stimulate your thoughts and see where we go from here. I know we cannot satisfy everyone, but let's make sure we get as many classmates attending as possible. Also, we need to start planning this event. We don't even have a date on when this reunion should take place. By the way, I want to send out my super BIG "Mahalo" to Felisa who is stepping out and making things happen. Let's all pitch in and help her whenever possible.
